Connecting the Soccer Dots: Perfecting the Mental and Emotional Side of Soccer

Yogi Berra famously said, “90% of baseball is mental.  The other half is physical.”  His math wasn’t great, but he had the right idea: in soccer and in life, it’s the mental side of the game that gives you the biggest edge.

Today, with all the pressures around playing time and performance—not to mention academics, social life, the future—developing concrete methods to remain calm, even, confident, and connected is more important than ever! The good news is it doesn’t take a lot of work to make a good start on those improvements and thus having a blast with the sport you love.

Some of the things you’ll think about and learn with this program:

  1. What is “Outcome Fever” and how has it/does it affect me on and off the field?

  2. How can I consistently be in the moment and stop regretting mistakes and worrying about the future?

  3. How do the “modern” aspects of life—from phones to social media to parental pressure—affect me and my play? What are the causal links between stress and the degradation of physical skills, flexibility, oxygenation, etc.? How can I manage influences that don’t help me get where I want to be?

  4. How, generally, can I change the way I work on the “inside” to better perform on the “outside?”

The Goals of this Program:

  1. Dissolve Outcome Fever
  2. Get you present way more often
  3. Get you liking the kid in the mirror way more often.

The Connecting the Soccer Dots Challenge is easy. It takes about 10-15 minutes a day, but the concepts, thinking, feelings, and ideas will stay with you throughout your day. You can get involved with your friends or teammates or do it individually, and either way you’ll have access to Jeff Levin for ideas, support, and consultation.

By the end of the program, you will have a better idea of what makes you tick and learn a set of tools to help you focus and be present. If you seek connectedness, mental calm, emotional balance, and a consistently fun, high level of performance on and off the field, try the Challenge and increase your capacity to create both internal change and positive results during practice and on game day.
